چکیده

Abstract: Plants produce a variety of secondary metabolites, one which is essential oils that contain volatile compounds and are useful for humans. Cymbopogon nardus contains can inhibit the proliferation cancer cells. This research aims to explore antiproliferation activity C.nardus’ with different concentrations against breast Michigan Cancer Foundation-7 (MCF-7) Antiproliferation test was carried out total cells method using trypan blue were calculated microscope. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS) performed identify compounds. The results showed Inhibitory Concentration 50 (IC50) value 359.6 ppm an inhibition percent 44.49% at 170 ppm. Meanwhile, Vero normal cell 29.04%, compared Doxorubicin 35.23%. dominant compound in C. nardus’ oil Geraniol Citronellol. Corymbia citriodora and Cymbopogon nardus essential oils samples were analyzed by GC and GC-MS and their qualitative and quantitative compositions established. The main component of essential oils of C. citriodora and C. nardus was citronellal, at 61.78% and 36.6%, respectively. The essential oils and citronellal were tested for their fumigant antifungal activity against Pyricularia (Magnaporth...

Cymbopogon essential oils: Chemical compositions and bioactivities

The genus Cymbopogon (Poaceae) is most important from the point of view of their essential oils. Essential oils from these species are widely used in flavours, fragrances, cosmetics, soaps, detergents and perfumery owing to their typical lemon and rose-like aroma. Cymbopogon essential oils and constituents present therein e.g. citral, geraniol, citronellol, citronellal and piperitone, have been...
